Famous dentist Dr Jay Grossman examines how homeless veteran was fatally stabbed in Brentwood, California
LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, September 21, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – A man has been arrested for allegedly stabbing and killing another man who intervened in an argument between the suspect and his girlfriend at a homeless in Brentwood near West Los Angeles Veterans Medical Center Wednesday morning. The fatal stabbing was reported around 6:40 a.m. in the 11600 block of San Vicente Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Famous dentist and Navy veteran Dr Jay Grossman has strong views on this issue and believes authorities need to take the homeless crisis seriously. “At the same corner that Homeless Not Toothless started 10,000 days ago (28+), across from the VA Hospital is in West Los Angeles, we walked past a person with a sign saying ‘will work for food, please help a veteran, “at an encampment of hundreds of homeless veterans sleeping on the streets in tents draped in the American flag,” Grossman says.
MPs found the victim with at least one stab wound and transported him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A preliminary investigation found that the suspect was in conflict with his girlfriend when the victim intervened and was stabbed, sheriff officials said in a statement. The woman was not injured. LA City District Attorney Mike Feuer, mayoral candidate, held a press conference outside the homeless camp and called on the county to house the homeless veterans. He wants the camp to be permanently removed from the street.
Grossman continues: “In the streets, unable to walk on the sidewalk because it is literally closed by tents, but the sanitary conditions in this block of Brentwood are abhorrent. And now we have had a man stabbed to death in the encampment.
The suspect was arrested at the scene by authorities and later taken to hospital for medical clearance so he could be jailed, according to the sheriff’s department. No weapons were recovered from the scene. The names of the suspect and the victim were not disclosed.
“What will it take for us to take care of others, to be kind to others, to stop the exorbitant number of veterans with untreated PTSD and a suicide rate that is a multiple of the general population. I am delighted with the more than $ 7-million in free dental care Homeless Not Toothless has provided over the nearly three decades of service to those in need, and there is still much to do, ”concludes Grossman.
